The SCAPEL Project
29 September, 2017
I took on an internship position under Cambodia Airports, the managing authority for the country’s 3 international airports. I was tasked to work on a online web app to allow the company to not have to rely on using paper logbooks to keep track of important airport data.
The resulting prototype was built over the course of 4 months, where I quickly learnt multiple programming languages to create an extensible, easily maintainable platform and database that provided enough security to work in a closed-access intranet environment.
With regards to the project called “SCAPEL”, Cambodia Airports has been very pleased with your presentation and the development of such a tool. This electronic logbook answers our requirement to using less paper while taking advantage of having the logs organized in a searchable database. Once the test departments have completed the migration, it is likely the tool will be spread to more departments. In the future, we may want to further develop it and integrate this function to our workflow software.
The project name is an acronym for “Société Concessionnaire des Aéroports Platform and Electronic Logbook”.
